Installation view from History Appears Twice. Diaz Contemporary. Toronto, 2008
Based on a mirror designed by Eileen Gray for Jean Badovici and E 1027 the artwork Egoist/Lover is an interactive kinetic sculpture that plays with the viewer’s expectations. We expect that a mirror will offer us a stable reflection of ourselves but this mirror is flirtatious and refuses to cooperate or return our gaze.
